Liverpool Sports Action Zone – Kensington Liverpool

Liverpool Sports Action Zone is a new initiative from Sport England, in direct need to the need addressing sporting deprivation in Granby, Toxteth, Dingle, Parks, Kensington New Deal area, Wavertree Playground, and Sefton Park.

Sport Action Zones will try to raise aspirations to help local communities to help themselves by working closely with Streetcage Sports Schools. Streetcage Sports schools has set up a Friday night project for youths aged 8 – 16 Years of age at Kensington Sports Centre, Liverpool. The aim of the project is to get youths away from the distractions on the Street and into positive activiies such as football.


The project will run for an initial 12 weeks with the aim of funding being applied for again once the project has finished. Streetcage Sports coach, Mike Lyons said

“This site has been the most challenging of all due to the delivery of a new project in a new area, however the youths have taken to the idea and we are now hitting as many as 30 Youths on a Friday night”

Streetcage Sports also aim to get a number of youths enrolled on the Streetcage Sports education programme as well as putting 16 – 19 Year olds through the F.A Coaching qualification.
