The North West Fire support network have now developed a 3 year partnership to deliver Streetcage Sports sites in as many as 9 different sites one night per week for up to 3 years in areas across Knowsley & Kensington with youths aged 8 – 18 years of age.

The partnership will see Streetcage Sports & the FSN setting up and developing sites in areas were are normally seen as a problem for The Fire Service and often experience problems with youths who most of the time have very little to do to prevent anti-social behaviour and also develop links with A number of organisations across the North West Service.

Streetcage Sports and the FSN have identified a total of 9 sites, through close partnership work with Youth workers, development officers, councillors and many more were these sites can be delivered. These sites are shown on our events page, which are updated and changed on a regular basis with sites starting & finishing all the time.

Streetcage Sports and the FSN have also purchased what we hope will be the first of many portable cages as seen above. This portable cage has cost £15,000 and has been imported from Germany. This portable cage will now act as a travelling Streetcage road show and will give youths the chance to take part in structured sessions as well as small sided games and tournaments.

Streetcage Sports’s David McDermott said ‘This is a vital time for Streetcage Sports with these exciting new plans and we now hope to use the success of this long term project in Knowsley to build similar projects in each of the 6 districts of The North West’.

These comments were supported by project manager for the Streetcage FSN project, Charlie Kavanagh who said “We believe that the Streetcage product is key to getting into areas of The North West and breaking down barriers with youths in the area, we really hope that this is the start of something really fantastic”

This project will see Streetcage Sports providing the very best coaching staff, Volunteers, Council workers & Fire fighters to make sure that the projects are a huge success. Streetcage will start its mass recruitment of staff in July 2007. Check out the News page & Gallery page for continuous updates of how the sites are developing over the next 3 years.
