The
partnership will see officers from Manor Road Police station get involved
with coaching and even playing with teenagers aged 13 – 17 Years
of age. Streetcage Sports is also arranging a 5 a-side match between teenagers
in the area and members of the Police force in Wallasey.
Streetcage Sports’s Dave McDermott said “This will hopefully
show teenagers that the Police are only trying to make the place we live
in safer with more enjoyable activities to do. The match will be a fantastic
way for youths to show off their talent and get one over the Police in
the only way that’s right”
Matthew Shannon (Head Coach and Organiser) said “In building a solid
link with East Wallasey Police we aim to reduce anti-social-behaviour
within Seacombe by providing a free of charge event which gives every
youngster the chance to take part”.
East Wallasey Neighbourhood Inspector, John Hogan said “Streetcage Sports is an excellent opportunity for parents to ensure that there children
get involved in something positive over the school holidays. Seacombe
enjoys a large police presence throughout the year and our law enforcement
activity combined with schemes like this have done much to reduce youth
disorder in the area”.
