The aim of the visit was to discuss their new football
project using new portable cages that have been imported from Germany
and have been backed and funded by Grampian Police and Aberdeen Council. Streetcage Sports delivered a presentation on the development of both “The Investors in Sporting Health” & “The Streetcage Sports “ programme that has seen the development of Free style football over 12 sites of The North West. We where able to educate Street Football representatives on the initiatives that we have in place, the programme we use and plans for the future with the implementation of Health awareness. We where also able to show them our new Educational DVD, which has been produced by Glass Studios in Birkenhead and is aimed at showing children exactly what cage football is about. (Please check out our 6-minute DVD on our web site) Streetcage Sports and Street Football are now in discussions to twin the city of Aberdeen with The North West and be responsible for the development of “Inner city projects” throughout England & Scotland in the next 5 years. Streetcage Sports will now work with Street Football, Aberdeen City Council and Grampian Police to make sure that the development of projects across The North West is as a success. It will also allow children from both Scotland & England to interact through residential schools and tournaments that should help improve relations between Scotland & England. In the afternoon, Streetcage Sports had the chance to visit Norfield Academy High School in Aberdeen to see Street Footballs portable cage in action. The cage was set up to allow students aged 13 – 14 take part in mini tournaments and to give Streetcage Sports and Investors in Sporting Health the chance to see how the cage works. The practical lesson was a big success and the feedback from pupils was fantastic. Streetcage Sports and Investors in Sporting health are now looking at Investors to assist with the purchase of a portable cage to visit problem areas, estates, schools, shows, tournaments, etc. The Classroom & presentation of the Streetcage DVDWe were then given the chance to talk with 40 pupils about Street projects to gain an incite into who would attend projects. Before we shown the 6-minute DVD, we asked the pupils if they would attend a free style Soccer school that was FREE! If they received a flyer or seen a poster. The response showed 31 out of 40 pupils said they would attend the project. The other 9 pupils explained that they had no visual picture of the event and that it would probably be boring. We put these 9 pupils into our hard to reach category. We then showed the DVD to the 40 pupils who looked bored throughout the introduction. However, as soon as the DVD started it immediately caught their attention and the talking stopped. At the end of the DVD, we asked the pupils if they would attend having now seen what goes on in the cages. The 31 pupils said that they would attend the session now without hesitation and 8 out of the 9 pupils who said no, had now changed their mind and would attend. The success was down to the Music, The Urban style, the images of coaches
performing tricks along side Youths in the cage. This DVD will now be
presented in Schools throughout The North West, where projects are being set
up within a 3 – 4 mile radius. |
